Our Team

We are a small but mighty group that is fighting everyday for quality connections, resources, and community for public education in Brookland. We need you to help us grow and continue. We are growing our board of directors and if you know someone who is interested in nurturing the village, reach us here.

  • Founder

Jhonna believes in the power of investment. Her alma mater, Bowie State University, was founded to provide opportunities for African Americans to receive a higher education when other institutions prohibited their academic pursuits. It is our civil right to be educated, to pursue our dreams, and to provide opportunities for others to flourish continues. And when we come together, invest, and make opportunities accessible for our young people to reach their highest potential, the more we will continue to break the systems that were designed to keep marginalized people in bondage. Jhonna is honored to continue the fight for educational equality through CARE Brookland.

  • Graduate Fellow

Philip is a Master’s student at Georgetown University committed to the growth and development of CARE Brookland and public education throughout Ward 5. He is deeply passionate about issues of access, equity, and mentorship building for our students. In a new era of technology, we need to reaffirm our personal connections and ensure that our communities are physical.
